Mavs Waive Delonte West

The Dallas Mavericks have waived guard Delonte West. West spend last season on the Mavericks, but problems and suspension led up to his dismissal from the team just before the season-opener.

After a pre-season loss earlier this year, West was in a locker room confrontation with other players. He was suspended for one day. But after the next pre-season game, the same thing happened again and he was suspended 10 days. After these problems, the Mavericks reportedly said they do not want him to influence young players. He was waived on Monday.

West is an eight-year NBA veteran, and the Mavericks were his fourth team. He has averaged 9.7 points per game in his career.

The Mavericks will use the open spot to sign center Eddy Curry.
